Best Advice for Those Needing a Remote Income: Be a Blogger!
While Pursuing Other Remote Work, Also Be a Blogger!
Important: Do download the remote work guidebook, so you know of the many remote income opportunities that are available, but in addition to other remote work, you should also create a blog and be a blogger. You can write about anything of your interest. We're all interesting in a multitude of ways and have our own unique minds and ideas. So, there's no competition with blogging, none at all. (And, understand, by saying "blogging," I'm not referring to making posts on newsletter platforms or article writing websites. I mean an actual blog on WordPress, through a web hosting company, a blog that you actually own, one that wouldn't get taken away from you/shut down so easily.) Everyone, as many persons as possible who can do so, you should create yourself a blog and make posts onto it. You can blog on just about any topic of your interest. You could even have a travel blog or vlog, posting travel videos of your expat or tourist journey. You could also have a Patreon page and drive traffic to that Patreon page, but having a blog on your own website, instead of on an external platform, is always best.
Then, to bring traffic to your blog, you share those posts onto social media (such as Mastodon, Clapper, UpScrolled, and Loops Video), sharing them onto platforms where your content will be seen, and posting only glimpses of the original post (not the entire post). That means you make teaser posts (repurposing your blog content into short form teaser posts) and then link each post back to your blog for viewers to read more, for them to read the entire post. You could also simply write a CTA in the social media post, directing them to your blog, your blog link being in the bio of your social media page. Research the profession of Blogging on your own for now. I'll also post an eBook later. (The guidebook does contain information about blogging too, so you understand the profession, including how to earn a remote income from it.) Be sure to read my post here about the best social media platforms to use.
Notes (More Information About Blogging):
* Directories will be essential. Any brave, caring persons out there who want to create a directory for bloggers, that'd be great. They can be paid or free directories. The most important factors are quality, equal opportunity, and not being corrupt. Then, announce your directory on social media.
* Posting a list of links to other blogs onto your blog (called a "blogroll") will also be helpful. For the blogroll, you simply post a list of blogs that are in your niche and/or blogs that you read and recommend to your visitors, a linked list, with the links pointing to the corresponding home pages of the blogs on the list. For monetization, when your blog traffic is decent after a while, you'll be able to accept advertisements and/or sponsorships from small businesses. Network advertising is another option, but network ads can slow down the functioning of blogs/websites. So, definitely be cautious of that. Be sure to monitor your blog/website after placing network advertisements onto it. For other monetizing options, you can also post a link from the blog to your Etsy shop, a POD store (Print on Demand), or to another online store. Just remember, you're a digital nomad, and so ordering supplies and shipping items directly to customers may be difficult, depending on where you ultimately move to. That's all there is to it.
(Please understand, these are the times. We have to move in this way, being mindfully aware and also working around the obstacles.)
In Conclusion: Download and read the guidebook, and be sure to also study Blogging so you understand it completely. Then, begin on creating yourselves a remote income portfolio for your travels, with Blogging being one of your remote income sources.
